CNBC has named Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo to its 2025 Financial Advisor 100 list of the top 100 financial advisors in America.

The firm, led locally by long-time FLORIDA TODAY columnist Dan Moisand, and DJ Hunt, both Certified Financial Planners, has been similarly recognized at various times by USA Today, Financial Advisor, the Financial Times, Advisor HQ, and RIA Biz. The firm has also been named one of the 75 Best Places to Work for Financial Advisors by Investment News five times since 2019. These and other accolades make MFT one of the most decorated truly independent firms in the United States.

According to CNBC: “We created CNBC’s Financial Advisor 100 in 2019 to recognize the country’s best financial advisors and top financial advisory firms. … Our team uses data analysis, with data partner AccuPoint Solutions, and editorial review to compile CNBC’s Financial Advisor 100 list. For 2025, the process began with 40,563 registered investment advisor firms, or RIAs, and that list was reduced to 1,015 that met CNBC’s requirements. CNBC surveyed the finalists for more details about their practice and verified responses against publicly available resources. Then AccuPoint used CNBC’s weighted criteria to rank the firms.”

In addition, for the third consecutive year, Forbes named MFT to its 2025 list of the 250 Top RIA firms in America. The Forbes list was compiled by SHOOK research. According to Shook, “SHOOK Research creates rankings of role models—firms that are leading the way in offering best practices and providing a high-quality experience for clients. A focus on both quantitative and qualitative factors, including telephone and in-person meetings, is imperative…SHOOK Research is the only ranking firm that interviews firms and advisors via telephone and in person at the firm’s location.”

Florida Trend magazine recently named Florida Tech President John Nicklow to its 2025 “Florida 500” list, seen as a who’s who of the state’s most influential business leaders. Nicklow is one of 31 educators on the annual list compiled by Florida Trend.

“It is Florida’s premier Rolodex,” wrote Florida Trend president and publisher David Denor when introducing the list. “It provides readers with insight and information on Florida’s most influential industry leaders who are helping to lead and drive Florida forward.”

Since arriving in 2023, Nicklow has led efforts to craft visionary strategic and master plans for Florida Tech, ensuring the university’s STEM focus continues to provide students with exceptional educational experiences and employers with a robust talent pipeline. Building partnerships has been a primary focus.

“Businesses know what skills they want in future employees, so let’s enhance their engagement with universities and the college-to-career path for our graduates to better shape programs and outcomes for those specific industry needs,” Nicklow said. “Expanding and enhancing transformative partnerships is not just important, it’s necessary.”

Nicklow earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Arizona State University, where he was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni at the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. He is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.

A registered professional engineer and a certified professional hydrologist, Nicklow began his career as an engineering officer with the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
