Dan Moisand was quoted in a Wall Street Journal piece, “How Individual Investors Can Lock In Stock Gains” on June 20, 2017. Dan explained both the pros and cons (including the many costs) of trying to hedge against a market decline using options or stop orders.
Charlie Fitzgerald moderated a panel in Washington, D.C. as part of the Financial Planning Association’s Advocacy Day. The discussion covered a variety of regulatory and legislative issues including a recent proposal to overhaul the ethics rules for Certified Financial Planner professionals. Charlie is in his third of four years on the Board of Directors of CFP Board, the body that grants and regulates the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ marks in the U.S.
Financial Advisor magazine also posted a video interview with Dan recorded when he spoke at the magazine’s Retirement Symposium in Dallas in May. The interview contains some thoughts about how to counsel clients who are being approached by children to fund a new business.
Things We Found of Note
There is no shortage of unwanted phone calls coming in to most American households. You are not entirely powerless and can in fact report unwanted calls to the Federal Trade Commission. There are also defenses against those annoying automated calls. In some cases it is possible to end robo calls.
Travel has always had an element of glamour to it but these days, with costs high and the quality of service often low, travelers have plenty to complain about. Sometimes these complaints are rather amusing. Actual traveler complaints.
Speaking of amusing, this is just silly. Apparently, people will bet on anything even snail races.
